Rural Ways Rural Ways

Family fun

What better way to spend some quality time with your family than to get out and explore the beautiful countryside of the South East.

There are plenty of family friendly walks to choose from which keep the little ones entertained while you soak up the serenity of your surroundings. Why not take a trip along the Mole Gap Trail, a gentle 6 mile walk through the Surrey Hills, one of the most diverse Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the country. Or sample one of the family walks from Wellplace Zoo. Ranging in length and difficulty you can ensure that your children’s minds are kept as active as their feet by picking up an activity quiz to complete whilst on your adventure.

If you prefer two wheels to two feet then you could select one of the many cycle routes found in the region. One such example is the Wendover Family Cycling Trail which weaves its way in and out of the Wendover Woods and takes you to the highest spot of the Chilterns; definitely a sight worth seeing!

In addition to the many cycling, walking and riding tracks dotted throughout the South East you can also find some great farm-based attractions. Tulleys Farm in West Sussex has a pirate-themed maize maze and fun-park alongside the traditional favourite; pick your own fruit and veg. Or why not try Farming World in Faversham where the whole family can meet the farm’s residents and ride on one of the tractors. For those not so sunny days, Bucklebury Farm Park in Berkshire has an indoor play area but is also the home of over 150 Red Deer.
