Blean Woods offer many opportunities to walk on way marked trails, in Blean Woods National Nature Reserve at Rough Common, to take circular routes described in self guided walk leaflets or, if you want to find out more about your beautiful surroundings, join one of the guided walks. Visit the Blean website www.theblean.co.uk for up to date information.
Below are some suggestions of the types of walks The Blean offers; they range from a leisurely afternoon’s walk to a full week’s trail reaching the Blean along the Pilgrim’s Way. The links and contact details provide more in-depth information:
- Spend a leisurely afternoon following a nature trail in the RSPB Nature Reserve at Church Wood; there are four trails that vary in length from one to eight miles. Most are suitable for pushchairs and the green trail is also suitable for wheelchairs. More details of the trails and guided walks are available at www.rspb.org.uk/reserves/guide/b/bleanwoods
- For a longer stay, join a six day, five night, walk along the Pilgrims Way ending in Blean’s ancient woodlands, or Discover Rural Kent for a 3 day or weekend break. Organised by Walk Awhile www.awhile.fsnet.co.uk or call Derek Bright on 01795 533387.
The Blean Initiative, a group of landowners, agencies and local people encouraging visitors to come to The Blean, is very pro-active at creating new circular walks and organising guided walks. They can be contacted at www.theblean.co.uk
